About The Golf Links
The Portmarnock Links has been open for play since 1995. It is an exceptional course that offers just the right degree of challenge, superb views and relaxed atmosphere. Playing golf on the shoreline of a rugged peninsula such as this one, you get a very full flavour of what Ireland is all about, all while based in modern comfortable surroundings.
Legendary German golfer Bernhard Langer is no stranger to these parts, he won the Irish Open no fewer than three times at the nearby Portmarnock Golf Club and The Royal Dublin Golf Club. When he became a golf course designer with European Golf Design in 1992, it was little wonder that he chose our course as his first links design.
Along with renowned American architect Stan Eby, Bernhard has come up with a course that has been described by Golf World magazine as "everything a links course should be" with rolling fairway and unforgiving rough. It has been chosen to host numerous amateur ans professional events, including the 2008 and 2009 Ladies Irish Open.
Recent investment by the hotel's current owners has seen extensive upgrades to the course, as well as such enhancements as the creation of a short game area, the riveting of traditional links pot bunkers and grass pathway improvements. All of this has made further use of the dunes and natural terrain while improving the enjoyment experience for visitors of all levels.
Come and enjoy our resort course for yourself and 'play while you stay' at Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links.. Bask in the beauty of the Irish coastline as you tee off on our 18 hole championshp course with the crisp blue skies and rolling fairway as your backdrop.
With clubs and additional equipment available to hire onsite and a course suitable for any level of golfer, it's time to tee off!
